About Don Phelps

"By day, Phelps is a professor at a university in the Chicago area and by night (and weekends) he is a talented musician sharing his beautifully crafted songs. Phelps is a seasoned acoustic artist deeply rooted in the vibrant and dynamic musical culture of Chicago. His musical journey spans from his early acoustic gigs during college to a 20-year stint as a member of a working classic rock band. In 2016, Phelps returned to his musical roots, embracing his passion for acoustic music and songwriting. During his summers in northern Michigan, you can find him playing acoustic classics and originals at local wineries, breweries, distilleries, festivals, and farmer's markets. Drawing inspiration from musical legends such as James Taylor, Jackson Browne, Jason Isbell, John Mellencamp, Luke Combs, Tom Petty and Zach Bryan, Phelps builds an intimate connection with his audiences creating an immersive musical experience that speaks to the heart."
